1) Lifesaving Society: Water Rescue (see individual course times below)
- Rookie-Ranger-Star Patrol (10-14 hours each) - only pool needed
- Bronze Star (12-16 hours) - pool & classroom needed
- Bronze Medallion (20-25hours + exam) - pool (80%) & classroom (20%) Pre-requisite: 13 yrs OR Bronze Star award
- Bronze Cross (20-24hours + exam) - pool & classroom needed Pre-requisite: Bronze Medallion award only
2) Lifesaving Society Swim for Life-Lifesaving Instructor (40-44 hours)
Prerequisites: Lifesaving Society Bronze Cross or higher AND 15 years of age
- Gives instructors all the tools they need to teach learn-to-swim levels through lifesaving levels like Bronze Cross
- Helps aquatic staff create long-term succession planning
- Course requires up to 26 hours of pool time throughout course as well as classroom/activity room
...Post-Course: In Saskatchewan, must work with an appointed volunteer Bronze mentor
on the planning, teaching and examining of each Bronze Medallion &
each Bronze Cross course until one full mentorship is successfully completed.


3) Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (approx 60 hours)
Prerequisites: Swim Kids Level 10 ability, Lifesaving Society Bronze Cross or Red Cross Assistant Lifeguard certification, AND 15 years of age
NEW: WSI Candidate training now requires four components:
- Strokes & Skills Evaluation (6+hrs) = Trainer required (in-person)
- On-line Training (15-25hrs) = Virtual Trainer assistance only (6hrs)
- Teaching Experience (8+hrs) = 4hrs consecutive hours for Swim Preschool & 4hrs consecutive hours for Swim Kids ...require two experienced Supervising WSIs on staff (Trainer presence not required)
- Classroom & Pool (24+hrs) = Trainer required (in-person)

4) National Lifeguard - Pool Option (40 hours+exam) ...pool lifeguard training CURRENTLY UNAVAILABLE
Prerequisites: 15 years old + Bronze Cross certification + Standard First Aid AND CPR C (i.e. Aquatic Emergency Care certification or Standard First Aid/CPR C/AED certification from Lifesaving Society, Red Cross, St.John Ambulance, or Canadian Ski Patrol)
- Creates DECK-READY lifeguards!
- Course requires approx 25+ hours of pool time throughout the course as well as classroom/activity room

1) CPR & Automated External Defibrillation training (CPR/AED) ...4 to 8 hours
- CPR A/AED (4hrs) = Treating Adults only (1 rescuer CPR)
- CPR C/AED (6hrs) = Treating Adults, Children & Infants (1 & 2 rescuer CPR)
- CPR HCP/AED (8hrs) = Treating Adults, Children & Infants (1 & 2 rescuer + Bag-Valve-Mask use + Rescue Breathing)
2) Emergency First Aid training (EFA/CPR A/AED) ...approx 8 hours
- Includes handling of the "ABCs" = imminent life-threatening emergenices (i.e. CPR A/AED AND breathing & cardiovascular emergencies)
3) Standard First Aid training (SFA/CPR C/AED) ...16 to 18 hours
- Includes = all previous "EFA & CPR C/AED" content + bone-muscle-joint emergencies + head/spine injuries + diabetic emergencies + seizures + environmental emergencies (i.e. heat & cold issues + poisonings)
4) Aquatic Emergency Care training (AED/CPR C/AED) ...20 hours + exam
- Includes = all SFA & CPR C/AED content above + basic aquatic spinals + shallow water first aid situations
